St. Lucia Day

Hi,
It's Kirsten!

Guess who I and the other girls met?

Saint Lucia and her friends!

There were even these two really big people there!

Me and Lucia!

We all got to meet and talk to Lucia and her friends and the others also took some pictures...

I think we look a lot a like!

We might not look so much alike, but we both like to bake!

We both have fancy brown curls. I complimented her coat and she told me that she though my dress was very pretty!

This gal told me that she does taekwondo - she sounds like a real pirate fighter, and I wish she were a part of my crew!

-

Now I'm speaking for everyone:
There will be more posts about all the fun we've had in Sweden (and some other places!) in January.
We're leaving Felicity's ship to go back home. We've been all busy getting packed up and are heading back to America tomorrow. Kirsten and Kirsten are excited about the plane ride, Felicity though, does not understand why one has to put wings on a ship.
When we get to America we will all have to say goodbye to each other and go back in our boxes, and be sent home... But until then we're going to try to have as much fun as possible! When the sad day does come, there at least won't be long until we post again!

Talk to you later!
Hugs,
Kirsten, Felicity, Emily, Kirsten, Rebecca and all our new Lucia friends!

E-E-Emily Arrives

Hi, it's Felicity!
Today I sat down and chatted with Rubin.
We talked about Kirsten and Kirsten. They were still in their beds, talking to each other about life in the 1850s.

Speaking of that... Why didn't you open the third package?

There was a third package?!

Yes, it's probably still there...
I didn't listen to whatever Rubin said after that, I just ran off to look for the package.

I found it and quickly opened it up.

I tried to pull whatever was in there, out.

It's stuck! Help me, Rubin!

Rubin casually pulled out the plastic bag that was inside.

She smirked at me,

and I stuck my tongue back at her.
A pirate can't always have manners!

We pulled out the plastic bag and I attempted to open it.

Rubin saw some clothes through the plastic, and immediately fell in love.

Just a moment later and this girl was out of the plastic bag.
She stood with the tips of her feet pointed against each other, and her hands behind her back - she looked pretty nervous.

Rubin was once again gone.

Hi!

"Uhum... hi." She whispered.

And in came Rubin...
Hey! What's your name?

Eh... E-E-Emily.

Nice to meet you! I'm Rebecca. Rebecca Rubin. I hope you don't mind that I borrowed your outfit.

"I-it's ok. You look good in it." She said, smiling slightly.
Great! And I know, right? It's fabulous!
Emily giggled.

Don't worry about her, she's been on land for too long!

Hey!
I'm Felicity, by the way. What did you say your name was?
Emily B-Bennett.
It's nice to meet you! You will fit right in here at the ship!

Emily smiled at me, but I heard something coming from the kitchen...

"Wait, be quiet please.", I said.

What sort of stove is this?
I don't know... Ah, Kirsten, I don't think that's a very good idea..!
Are you sure? I haven't had soup in days, I'm starving! We just need some milk...
Isn't that a little too heavy?
No, I've carried tons of heavy stuff - this is no biggie!

Then I heard a big crash.

I think I have to go check what they're doing..!
Ok...
Not my milk! I needed that... I was going to ask for more pancakes!

Emily looked over at me, with a face looking like she hadn't understood what I had just said.
I didn't care to explain, but thought that it was a good chance to defend my pride.
You should worry about them - they're pretty good at making a mess!

Hihi... Are, are those pancakes-things good?
They're awesome! In fact, they're the best ever! We really need to try to make some!

-

Have a good day,
- Felicity and Rebecca!

Then on our Darkest Night, Comes Kirsten and... Kirsten?

Natten går tunga fjät
rund gård och stuva;
kring jord, som sol förlät*,
skuggorna ruva.
Då i vårt mörka hus,
stiger med tända ljus,
Sankta Lucia, Sankta Lucia.

Natten går stor och stum
nu hörs dess vingar
i alla tysta rum
sus som av vingar.
Se, på vår tröskel står
vitklädd med ljus i hår
Sankta Lucia, Sankta Lucia.

Mörkret ska flykta snart
ur jordens dalar
så hon ett underbart
ord till oss talar.
Dagen ska åter ny
stiga ur rosig sky
Sankta Lucia, Sankta Lucia.
^-------------------------------------------------------/-------------------------------------------------> Night walks with a heavy step
Round yard and hearth,
As the sun departs from earth,
Shadows are brooding.
There in our dark house,
Walking with lit candles,
Santa Lucia, Santa Lucia!

Night walks grand, yet silent,
Now hear its gentle wings,
In every room so hushed,
Whispering like wings.
Look, at our threshold stands,
White-clad with light in her hair,
Santa Lucia, Santa Lucia!

Darkness shall take flight soon,
From earth's valleys.
So she speaks
Wonderful words to us:
A new day will rise again
From the rosy sky…Santa Lucia, Santa Lucia!

That is the lyrics to the song sang in the beginning of most Lucia performances.
A few days ago it did get very dark here. A storm passed by us and our electricity went out.
And there was a Lucia, well sort of... More like Lucias.
This is Felicity by the way, and I'm going to tell you the story about our night without electricity...

I and Rubin had gone to bed early so we could fall asleep before the storm started.
Well, I heard this loud noise and woke up instantly. A ninja must always be ready for attack!

This gigantic branch had fell down on our porch!
We were lucky that we didn't sleep out there tonight!

It was very dark inside, but the humans had lit some candles.
In the candlelight I saw a pile of boxes right in front of me!

I screamed like a happy donkey and woke Rubin up.

PRESENTS!

I ran over to the pile of boxes and looked carefully at it.
It didn't have a name tag, but I didn't care! It was obviously meant for me!

Rubin helped me open it up.
"It can not be..!" I said.
"Be what?" Rubin asked - she's always so full of questions.
"Lucia!" I exclaimed.
"Who?" Rubin said looking with a puzzled face, at the girl in the box.

We carried the box over by the the candles to get a better look at our guest.

We lifted the lid to find a girl dressed in a flowery blue dress with a striped apron.

"Are you Lucia..?" Rubin asked questionably.

"Me?" She said. "Well, I have been!"

"I'm Felicity." I said and shook her hand. "And this is Rubin. She asks lots of questions, I hope she won't annoy you too much."

Rubin looked at me like she was going to make a big scene, but I just walked of - there were more presents to open!
Instead she started talking to Lucia.

I opened up the second box. This one was very big!

Lots of puffy things were stuffed in there! Almost like my adventure in the evil sea of marshmallow-town!

While I searched through the box, Rebecca and Lucia read the letter that was sent with Lucia.

Finally!

I called for the others to help me.

Together we lifted the wrapped gift out of the box.

Let's unwrap her!
Rubin had disappeared by then, so I was glad to have Lucia's help!

I must say she looks pretty weird! She might be from marshmallow-town?

-

This is way more comfortable than the box-bed-boat!
-

Luckily Rubin got back in time to help us unveil the gift.

A...
Magnet..?

"MINE!" Rebecca screamed and literally jumped on the magnet.

It's beautiful! Especially when you see my reflection in it!

Eh...

... let's just continue unwrapping!

In there was yet another girl.
"Hey!" She said as she popped out of the box.

Hi!

"Another one..?" I and Rubin said at the same time.

We all greeted the new girl. She was pretty loud and funny!

Then we all went back in our beds and talked about tons of stuff.
We had even forgot about the storm.
It turned out that neither of them was Lucia. Which was quiet sad, as I was just about to ask them if they had brought any lussekatter (Lucia buns).
In fact, they are both named Kirsten! Not very surprising as they look a lot alike!

Have a great day,
- Felicity!
